What I realized is that in this past year I have been able to be more, do more and have more than I have ever wanted or dreamed possible! I have spent the past year volunteering, speaking publicly, and generally contributing when and where I felt I could -- and more importantly in places and situations that didn't stress me out.
Having money and time freedom has allowed me to be 'me' to my fullest.
In the past year I have developed a dream to answer the question: how can we, as a world, create money and time freedom for everybody in the world?
Before you start jumping to conclusions or relating the idea to other things that have been tried in the past (don't worry, I know you will, and it's perfectly natural :) .. just stick with me for a few minutes!), let's hold this idea on its own.. and see what the possibilities are...
Everybody's definition of money and time freedom is different. What I need to be financially free is different from what you need to be financially free. And that's ok. As well, what I'm willing to do for financial freedom is different from what you're willing to do. And that's ok too.
But can we all agree that we all need: food, water and housing? Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs define a few other things we need, but those 3 are the ones that will most directly translate to money.
My idea is: let us create money and time freedom for all by working together to create a pool of capital, and from the interest earned on that capital we pay the individuals of our group the money they need to survive!
For example, let us work together as a group of 10 people to create $10 million. At 10% interest per year, we as a group can receive incomes of $100,000 per year. I'm not particularly interested in the details of how this would work, but I believe that it is completely possible.
One suggestion I have is to begin with this goal:
- 10 people
- 1 million dollars
- 6 months
At the end of six months we will have $1million, and we then give the most needy the interest payments to get them to financial freedom, so they can more fully commit to work on generating the next 9 million.
Over a period of time, we build the $10 million in capital and we can all take our "equal share" of interest.
Where does the money come from? Let's look at some basic math:
$1 million = 100,000 purchases @ $10
$1 million = 10,000 purchases @ $100
$1 million = 1,000 purchases @ $1000
In a network of 10 people, do you think we have access in our personal networks to 10,000 people? Maybe you know 100 other people -- do those people know 10 other people each?
What do we sell? Well maybe you are an accountant and you are having trouble finding clients. I am a life coach and I am looking for clients. I have clients who need accounting services. You have clients who need coaching services. So let's exchange clients.
Where does the money go? I suggest a mutually agreed-upon Trust. We can locate a financial organization to manage it.
How do we determine the most needy? I suggest a 3rd party accountant or financial planner -- we task them with collecting our personal financial situations and they choose who gets the interest payments first.
Who get's the capital? For this to work, we need to invest the money for a period of time. Perhaps we have a contract that states the money must be invested for 5 years -- after that time the team member may withdraw his 10%.
The foundation of this idea is not money, however. The foundation is money and time freedom for all. It involves completely different definitions of trust, community, partnership, abundance... and, I believe it is a true vision.
For, after we have 10 people who are money and time free, those 10 can form new groups of 10, and replicate the process.
At its limit -- when the system has reached every person in the world -- I believe we will have seen a complete re-distribution of the world's wealth. I also believe that as our definitions of trust, community and abundance are shifted, we will come to have completely different definitions of money and time freedom.
I don't know, it's just an idea I'm playing with :) You want to play with me?
