Client Stories
To give you an idea of the kind of people who work with a life coach, I'd like to share some stories of people that I have worked with. Names and specifics have been altered to maintain confidentiality.
Be an Entrepreneur, Start Your Own Business
In working with Sarah, we had similar challenges to overcome as we did with Henry. Sarah was a well-educated professional in the area of her product. She had a large existing network of contacts, and she had a stable income to keep her afloat while building her dream business.
Together we discovered that his exercise routines were being built upon a self-destructive belief system -- i.e. that he had to be better, fitter, .. that in his current form he was unacceptable. Together we designed practices and activities based on a new belief system -- one based on passion, well-being, and contentment.
Sometimes a person has the skills, knows what to do, in fact knows everything they need to be successful, but in a new environment sometimes they stall, and for no good reason.
Henry was a very successful sales account manager for a corporation. He was well-respected in his industry, consistently produced top sales results and was a highly-skilled salesperson.
But when Henry decided to make a go of it on his own, when he decided to build his own business, he stalled. And Henry didn't really know what was stopping him. He knew he was procrastinating, he knew that he could be doing more and doing better, and he knew that he was capable.
From my perspective, I saw how past habits and stories, present fears, and neglected well being were getting in his way.
By creating new awarenesses and supporting Henry to practice new behaviors; by holding Henry accountable to his goals and commitments; by getting Henry to take care of his physical, mental and emotional well being; and by encouraging and re-inspiring Henry, we were able to increase his sales 10 times in 3 short months.
Life After Divorce
When you spend your life with somebody else, when you establish a routine and a way of doing things, and then one day it's all gone, with nothing more than a void in its place, what do you do? How do you fill the gap?
Many people shut down because of the sheer overwhelm of freedom of choice.
Jill was a fantastic example of what a divorcée can do to move forward. Rather than wallow in regret, loss and hopelessness, Jill chose to work with me in designing her post-divorce life.
It helped that she had a massive vision for her life, a dream that she absolutely needed to realize! And it turned out that divorce was an opportunity for her to create a more fulfilling life for herself.
In working with Jill, we often had her consult with other professionals -- a lawyer for legal matters, a counselor for grief, alternative healers for specific issues -- but she engaged me to clarify her goals, understand her deeper purpose in life and to keep her moving forward when the doubt kicked in.
We worked together for over a year and it was one of the most rewarding relationships I've ever had. I got to partner with an amazing woman in bringing her dreams to reality.
Direct Seller Support
Building a business on your own is draining. You have to do everything and be everyone in your business. Direct sellers have an even greater challenge -- they must constantly face rejection, constantly have to invent and reinvent new approaches, maintain belief and faith in their product in the face of a culture that is so susceptible to massive advertising campaigns, and deal with unique problems like Call Reluctance.
And did I mention you need to battle doubt, perhaps almost daily?
In working with Sarah, we had similar challenges to overcome as we did with Henry. Sarah was a well-educated professional in the area of her product. She had a large existing network of contacts, and she had a stable income to keep her afloat while building her dream business.
She was in the ideal situation-she had a proven product and the education, research and sales training to win.
She had also taken programs like the Landmark Forum, and sales training from her company and had great support from her up line.
So what was in her way?
Fear.
Almost every session of coaching was about addressing some aspect of her fear. She'd had years of therapy, and totally understood why she was blocked, but could not get past the blocks.
Together we generated new understandings and then we designed baby steps that she could take to move forward. We helped her find new ways of looking at things, new motivations to act, and we got her to act.
In 5 months Sarah produced more than she had in 5 years.
Customize Fitness Accountability
There are a bazillion different fitness and diet programs out there. But 99.5% of them are designed based on certain assumptions. They assume that you have no special needs. They may assume that you don't exercise because you don't want to.
In working with one individual, a depressed man, aggressive, type-a activities like bootcamps and group fitness had limited effectiveness. But he could never figure out why. And every time he tried and failed he felt like crap. And became more depressed.
Together we discovered that his exercise routines were being built upon a self-destructive belief system -- i.e. that he had to be better, fitter, .. that in his current form he was unacceptable. Together we designed practices and activities based on a new belief system -- one based on passion, well-being, and contentment.
Today he exercises; not as much as he wants, but the experience is completely different. He no longer forces himself to exercise, and there is no battle of wills -- he goes because he feels good doing it.
Leadership Development
Being leader and doing leader are two completely different things. The doing of leader, the skills and structures, are well explained and taught in many different programs.
But what will support a person to move from being a follower to being a leader? What does it even mean to be leader? What's the life of Being the One like? How do you approach your family, friends, community and world with a new idea or a new paradigm? What do you do if nobody around you "gets it?"
But what will support a person to move from being a follower to being a leader? What does it even mean to be leader? What's the life of Being the One like? How do you approach your family, friends, community and world with a new idea or a new paradigm? What do you do if nobody around you "gets it?"
In working with leaders I supported them as they faced all of the challenges that come from living in a new paradigm.
I provided a sandbox to play in, to reflect upon successes and to design new approaches to apparent failures.
Together we learned how to be leader, by shifting their own perceptions and beliefs about being leader, then going out in the world and trying it on.
